Schedule and Pass FAA Knowledge Test

Schedule your FAA Airman Knowledge Test through the psiTRUE TALENT, an FAA’s authorized testing provider and take the Unmanned Aircraft General – Small (UAG) exam. FAA Tracking Number (FTN) and an authenticator app for MFA. The test consists of 60 multiple-choice questions, and a minimum score of 70% is required to pass. Once you successfully complete the exam, your test results will be transmitted to the FAA.

Apply for Your Remote Pilot Certificate

After passing the knowledge test, log in to your FAA Integrated Airman Certificate and/or Rating Application system (IACRA) account and complete FAA Form 8710-13 for a remote pilot certificate (FAA Airman Certificate and/or Rating Application). The FAA and TSA will review your application as part of the certification process.

Once your application has been approved and the required security vetting is complete, the FAA will issue your Temporary Remote Pilot Certificate, allowing you to begin commercial drone operations while your permanent certificate is processed and mailed.

No. To fly a drone commercially in the U.S., you need an FAA Remote Pilot Certificate under Part 107 — not a traditional pilot’s license. You earn it by passing the FAA Remote Pilot Knowledge Test, which covers regulations, airspace, weather, and safety procedures.

You must be at least 16 years old to take the FAA Remote Pilot Knowledge Test and hold a Remote Pilot Certificate.

Your FAA Tracking Number (FTN) is a unique identifier required to register for the FAA knowledge test. You obtain it by creating an account in the IACRA system (Integrated Airman Certification and Rating Application) at iacra.faa.gov.
