Inspire tomorrow’s pilots today. At Alpha Tango, we partner with schools, youth clubs, and community organizations to create drone clubs, cultivate interest in aviation, and support the FAA’s vision for expanding UAS skills among youth.

What is the Youth Drone Initiative ?

The FAA’s Youth Drone Initiative is designed to foster collaboration, share best practices, and help youth organizations develop drone programs as a pathway to aviation careers.

Federal Aviation Administration

Through this initiative, schools and clubs can access resources, guidance, and a network of peers, allowing students (ages ~11-18) to gain exposure to UAV technology, safety awareness, and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, math) learning opportunities. Federal Aviation Administration+1

Alpha Tango’s Youth Drone Initiative is our commitment to bringing this vision to life locally helping you launch, manage, and grow drone clubs that truly engage students.

Who Can Partner

We welcome collaboration with:

  • K-12 schools (public, private, charter)
  • After-school programs, youth centers,
    community and recreation clubs
  • STEM outreach organizations
  • Homeschool co-ops and enrichment groups
  • Robotics clubs, maker spaces

If your organization educates or gathers students in the
11–18 age range and wants to integrate drones (or
already has a drone program), you’re a candidate.

Aligning With FAA Goals

Alpha Tango’s initiative directly supports FAA’s aim to cultivate a youth drone community and build future UAS workforce capacity. Federal Aviation Administration+1

By participating, your organization can help share updates, successes, challenges, and lessons across a broader youth drone network. Your program can amplify student opportunity in STEM and aviation.

No you don’t. We’ll provide beginner-level support, safety lessons, and progressive learning
plans.

You can begin with a few drones and controllers, a safe open area for flights, and basic safety gear. We’ll coach you on what to invest in next.

Yes. As students mature, they can transition into FAA Part 107 training pathways, competitions, or other advanced drone programs.

We recommend starting with middle school and high school students (ages ~11–18).

Alpha Tango charges a partnership setup fee or cost-sharing on resources. We can also help you find grants, sponsorships, or community funding to offset costs.
